Several tongues and cold noses nudged my hand and then pressed against me. My other hand I stuck out in front so it could scent me. Quinn brought the hammer up, but I grasped his wrist, stilling him. Tongues lolled and the hellhound barreled forward. Two of them snarled.Īll six heads swiveled in my direction again. It stopped and looked at Quinn with three of its heads. “You know this dog, uh, demon?” Quinn said out of the side of his mouth. The hellhound yipped again and bounced in place, its butt waggling like crazy. At least in this form.Īnd then the demon dog wagged its tail. I’d lost too much blood to put up much of a fight. One head watched us, and then another, and another. The hellhound continued chewing on the deceased-and now in pieces-demon until it also turned to liquid. He bared his teeth and stepped to my side. A rivulet of blood dripped down one arm, though he looked in better shape than me. Quinn held the hammer in front of him like a sword.
